Aguero denies City are like Barcelona

Sergio Aguero does not want to compare Manchester City to European champions Barcelona.

Manager Roberto Mancini has been earning praise for the revitalised style of his team this season and, on Saturday, Wigan were swept aside 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero scored a brilliant hat-trick in the win and combined superbly with team-mates David Silva,
Carlos Tevez, who was a surprise starter and had a penalty saved, and Samir Nasri.

City's free-flowing win over Wigan drew post-match comparisons to Pep Guardiola's Barcelona, but former Atletico Madrid man Aguero does not want to get carried away.
He said in The Sun: "Barcelona are a team that have played together for a lot of years in the same style and they have great players, but we also have good players with ability on the ball.

"Nasri and myself have only come to City this season, but there are players, like David Silva, who were here before who have a similar style and way of thinking which allows us to keep the ball, to try to dominate possession.

"It's so important in modern football to have the ability to be comfortable and have quality on the ball and we have it.

"We move it quickly and that's vital, but we're not thinking about Barcelona. We're thinking about ourselves really and trying to develop our own style of play with our own players and do the things Roberto Mancini wants us to do.

"And we are feeling good because we're creating a lot of chances and scoring a lot of goals in our own style and it's one we want to develop, to improve."

Gerrard - Suarez is scary
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes team-mate Luis Suarez has what it takes to become an all-time great at Anfield.

Suarez has been a revelation for the Reds since his arrival from Ajax last January.

Gerrard has been impressed by the Uruguayan and believes he will go on to become a legend for the club.

Asked whether Suarez could become an all-time Reds great, Gerrard told the club's official website: "I don't see why not. He's still young enough and I'm sure he's going to get even better than he is now, which is a scary thought.

"He's got the appetite for the game to learn and get better.
"Hopefully he will go on here for a long time because he's certainly got a massive part to play at this club in the future - the history is there to be written."

Suarez has scored three times so far this term and Gerrard feels that if the 24-year-old can keep it up, Liverpool will be firmly in the hunt for trophies.

"He's a very enthusiastic footballer and very intelligent. He's like a kid in the street and he can't wait to get out for training and games," added Gerrard.

"Alongside Dirk (Kuyt) of late, they've been like two Duracell bunnies. They just don't stop and for defenders that must be a nightmare, knowing when you control the ball those two will be chasing.

"It's fantastic to have him and hopefully he can continue his form until the end of the season. If he does, it will give us a much better chance of getting some silverware."
